Among other utilities, the City of Pompano Beach (COPB) provides its 110,000 residents with water reuse, wastewater, and stormwater services. Known for its beaches, marinas and offshore coral reef, plus numerous wrecks and other dive sites. The long Pompano Beach Pier stretches into the Atlantic Ocean. North, along the shore, the 1900s Hillsboro Lighthouse guards the Hillsboro Inlet, an entrance to the Intracoastal Waterway.

Founded in the early 1970s, North Atlantic’s oil refinery, located in Come By Chance,Newfoundland and Labrador, produces 130,000 barrels of oil per day. Their output not only warms homes and powers cars in the local market, but also does so abroad; North Atlantic exports approximately 90% of their petroleum products to foreign markets, including Europe and the United States.

Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is the San Francisco Bay Area’s newest transportation option for travel, offering passenger rail service in Sonoma and Marin counties. SMART’s initial 43 miles of rail corridor includes 10 stations, from the Sonoma County Airport to Downtown San Rafael. Future extensions include: Larkspur, which is scheduled to be completed in 2019; Windsor; Healdsburg; and Cloverdale. The full project will provide 70 miles of passenger rail service, connecting SMART passengers with jobs, education centers, retail hubs and housing along the Sonoma-Marin corridor, and a bicycle-pedestrian pathway.
